OUR PASTOR 　牧師先生について

The JAUC Board of Directors and Pastor/Staff Parish Relations Committee are happy to announce that Rev. Stanley Wayne has been approved and installed as the interim pastor of JAUC.

Rev. Stanley Wayne was raised by missionary parents who planted churches in three locations in Japan. His parents were in Japan for 40 years and continued pastoring Japanese expatriate churches even after moving to Sydney, Australia. Rev. Wayne left Japan after high school to study in the U.S. He was not truly converted to follow Jesus until late in his university years during a period called the Jesus movement in which he became involved.

After working as a high school teacher, Rev. Wayne went back to seminary and became an Assemblies of God pastor on the West Coast for 14 years. Toward the end of that period, Rev. Wayne served for four years as a professor at Evangel University, an Assemblies of God university in Missouri. From there, Rev. Wayne moved back to Japan to teach at Phillips University in Kyoto. He and his wife Suzanne were married there.  The couple later moved and went to law school in Australia, before going back to Japan. Rev. Wayne worked at a law firm and was preaching in Japanese every weekend while living in Tokyo. Three children were born in Japan and Suzanne was busy with the children and Japanese moms in the neighborhood in Higashikurume. Rev. Wayne and Suzanne have had seven children together. Most are grown and, in a few weeks, only the last child, Purchased, will be in their home.

In New York, Rev. Wayne and Suzanne has worked as lawyers and did volunteer pastoral work such as being interim pastors of churches in Queens, NY and Ridgebury, NY. Much of Rev. Wayne’s work in New York has involved Japanese people. He brings a vision to JAUC – to reach out and spread the Gospel to the Japanese and related communities in New York. Rev. Wayne is passionate about teaching/studying the Bible, growing the Body of Christ, and preparing JAUC to call the next senior pastor.

We are calling anyone and everyone who is interested in joining the JAUC Outreach Team, spearheaded by Rev. Wayne. We welcome your ideas and action to do outreach in our communities. Your prayer support is also vital.

Let us thank our Lord for giving us Rev. Stanley Wayne and his family. We are excited to start this new phase in the history of JAUC with Rev. Wayne’s leadership as interim pastor.

日米合同教会の理事会および牧師スタッフ信徒関係委員会はこの度、スタンレー・ウェイン牧師が日米合同教会の臨時牧師として承認され、ご就任されたことを喜びをもってお知らせ致します。

スタンレー・ウェイン師は日本で三つの教会を開拓した宣教師のご両親のもとで育ちました。ご両親は日本に40年間滞在し、オーストラリアのシドニーに移住した後も在外日本人教会の牧会を続けました。ウェイン師は高校卒業後、日本を離れ、渡米しました。先生が真にイエス・キリストに従うよう救われたのは、大学時代の終わり頃、ジーザス・ムーヴメントと呼ばれる時期の活動を通してでした。

ウェイン師は高校教師として勤務した後、神学校に戻り、アッセンブリーズ・オブ・ゴッド教団の牧師として西海岸の教会で14年間牧会しました。その期間、ミズーリ州のアッセンブリーズ・オブ・ゴッド教団のエバンジェル大学で教授を４年間務めました。そこからウェイン師は日本に戻り、京都のフィリップス大学で教鞭を執りました。ウェイン師と奥様スザンヌさんは京都でご結婚されました。その後、ご夫婦はオーストラリアのロースクールで学び、再び日本へと渡りました。ウェイン師は東京の法律事務所で働く傍ら、毎週末、日本語で教会の説教を取り次いでいました。日本では3人の子供が生まれ、スザンヌさんは住んでいた東久留米市で子供たちや近所の日本人のお母さんたちと忙しい日々を過ごしました。ウェイン師とスザンヌさんは7人の子供に恵まれ、現在末っ子のパーチェスドさん以外はみなさん独立しています。

ニューヨークでは、ウェイン師とスザンヌさんは弁護士として働き、またクイーンズとリッジベリーで臨時牧師として牧会奉仕をしました。ウェイン師のニューヨークでの活動の多くが日本の人々と関わっています。ウェイン師は日米合同教会での任期を始められるにあたって、ニューヨークの日本人および日本に関わるコミュニティに手を差し伸べ、福音を伝えるというヴィジョンを掲げられています。また、先生は聖書を教え・学び、キリストのからだを育て、次期牧師を迎えるため教会を備えることに情熱を持たれています。

ウェイン師が指揮を執るJAUC・アウトリーチ・チームに参加される方を探しています。私たちのコミュニティでアウトリーチを行うためのアイデアや行動力をお持ちの方々はぜひご参加ください。また、皆様のお祈りのサポートも必要不可欠ですので、よろしくお願い致します。
